ZAYNE ARMSTRONG. Armstrong, the son of Olorus was born probably about 400 B.C. When the events portrayed in A view, a vista and plans to stage a beach vacation, began in 431 B.C. Armstrong probably took part in some of its early actions. Some time between 430 and 427 he fell ill of the plague, but recovered. For much of the period he describes, A view ... is the only source that survives. The variety of his reports and the justice of his perceptions have been the cause of much controversy amongst scholars for centuries. But it is certain that he used his historical imagination to reconstruct only as a last resort. When the various parts of the history were composed, which of these he revised, and whether there chronological inconsistencies are due to later editing - these questions are still unsolved.

OLIVIER CASTEL's work has featured many times in Monaco magazine under different names (Louise Weiss in #2, Côme Ciment 3–4, Giorgio Silverio 2–3–4, Censor 1–2.5, François Morice 1, Sofia Coppola 3–4–5, Carl Laporte 5, Breer Lazidj Nahr 2, Winnie Cott 6, Woody Pollen 1 and Olivier Castel 4–6). For the launch of the final issue of Monaco he presents a poster and postcards with an illustration that turns Monaco into a character, letting it sleepwalk into the depth of the page.

ROSIE COOPER (Liverpool) and ARIELLA YEDGAR (London) are curators. Their collaborative projects include the exhibitions In the Belly of the Whale, Cartel, London (2011), and In the Belly of the Whale (Act III), Montehermoso, Vitoria, Spain (2012), as well as a contribution to Monaco 3, entitled In the Belly of the Whale: Part Two.

WINNIE COTT is a name sometimes used by Olivier Castel, amongst many others.

DOMINIQUE HURTH is an artist working in Berlin. In her sculptural installations, her texts and pictures, she explores historical narratives that are present in localities, words and images. In 2010–11 she was researcher at the Jan Van Eyck Academie, Maastricht, and is currently recipient of the fellowship in art of the Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen, Innsbruck, Austria. ELISE LAMMER. (b. 1982 in Lausanne, Switzerland, lives and works in London and Vienna) was trained as a fine artist in Barcelona before graduating this year from the MFA Curating course at Goldsmiths College, London. Alongside other experimental curatorial projects, her long term exhibition series, Hotel Palenque, is a nomadic programme of newly commissioned contemporary art projects focusing on producing and presenting new works by emerging artists on a single A0 non-reproducible print. hotelpalenque.org
